This is a instructional tutorial video of applying a skinfade, the video shows the introduction of the barber the end product, instructions on screen and tools which are going to be used in the video. The video is shot in close up (CU), mid close up (MCU) and extreme close up (ECU) and high angle (HAS) camera angles to focus the field of view on the subject of the video.
The video is using high key lightening to lighten up the room where the hairstyle is getting performed, this could also be called (main key lightening) which is used to lighten up the whole room so that the audience can clearly see the physical activity instructions in the video while the audio voice over instructions play in the background so you have a clear view of what steps are performed and what to do on the next step of the instructional video.
The miss en scene in this video are the objects you seen in that scene which are the two men that are performing the hair cut, the man sitting in front of the camera receiving the haircut and the hand of the man standing behind the camera that is performing the haircut in instructional steps. The tools you can see in the video are the different clippers and different sizes of clipper guards that fade the hair. On the right side of the video you can see a sink and hair material and barbering tools which indicates this is a barbering video and the way the haircut is getting performed its shows how this is a instructional and informative video for education purposes, you can also see a free wifi sign on the wall in background and a ATM/cash machine which indicates that the video was created in a barbering salon.
the audio in the video is very clear and understanding the voice over is well paced and verbally clear so the audience watching the video has a clear understanding of the instructions given in the tutorial video by the person performing the haircut. the time passing in the instructional video is also appropriate because it gives the audience enough time to clearly hear the instructions and proceed with the actions as shown on screen. the editing of the video us made up out of intro and introduction and through out the video there are high angle shot cut aways for each of the process in the video to establish the steps of the haircut from a clear point of view. The non diegetic sound in this video is the quiet melody in the background and the voice over made by the person performing the haircut and the rest of the audio in the video is diegetic sound like the razors and other sounds in the background.
the strengths to this video are the way the instruction on screen and voice over are clear and well paced for the audience watching the video, the high angle shots to establish the full haircut process, high key lightening, close up and mid close up shots to show the detail, you can also see tools used and edited instructions on screen. The weaknesses of this instructional video are that the video is really clear and informative but its dull and really relaxed and gets boring after a while of watching the video also the performance of the haircut is boring because it repeats itself for periods at a time which can make the video boring and make the audience lose track of what instructions they are following.
The tools that i would take from this video and apply to mine would be the voice over how its clear and at a steady pace so my audience could understand the instructions, also i would apply the camera angles and key lightening which are ( CUS, ECUS, MCS and high key lightening.)
This is a secound example barbering tutorial video that I have used for the existing product analysis, the haircut in this video is also a skin fade which is performed by a different barber. the video is recorded by using ECU,MCU and CU camera angles. the video starts with a quick intro and jumps straight to the haircut

The audio in this instructional video is diegetic and non diegetic, the diegetic sounds are the chair clippers and small sounds in the background and the non diegetic sounds are the quiet music and voiceover in the video. the audio in the video is very clear and understanding the voice over is well paced and verbally clear so the audience watching the video has a clear understanding of the instructions given in the tutorial video by the person performing the haircut. the time passing in the instructional video is also appropriate because it gives the audience enough time to clearly hear the instructions and proceed with the actions as shown on screen. the editing of the video us made up out of intro and introduction and through out the video there are high angle shot cut aways for each of the process in the video to establish the steps of the haircut from a clear point of view.

The media codes and conventions that I have gathered from these two videos would be the intros, applying a voice over with written instructions on screen and the cutaways and time-lapse of the videos to fit the whole haircut thats getting performed, into a short instructional tutorial video.
